Upcoming – Dall Cup selfies, Simpson Cup audio-visual

One evening, two competitions, and these are judged by us the members, so it’s a lot of fun as well as a chance to show the prodigious talent of our members in two quite diverse fields of photography. Watch out for details in the members’ mailing.

Welcome to Perthshire Photographic Society!

Featured

Hi everyone! Welcome to the website of the Perthshire Photographic Society. That’s a rather formal sounding title but let me assure you that we are a down to earth, friendly and welcoming group and if you have an interest in photography, we would like to meet you!

You do not have to be a photographic expert to join us! There are currently 70 of us, with a wide range of skill levels from novice to experienced. We currently have a lot of new members who are thoroughly enjoying the experience of learning how to use their cameras and how to edit their photos. Indeed, as well as the programme that you can see on this website, we offer extra tuition to those who believe that it is of benefit to them. This tuition takes place during workshops, online Zoom talks and photo walks.

Why don’t you come and meet us? We meet weekly between October and March, at 7:30pm on Wednesday evenings, at the A K Bell Library in Perth. We usually meet in the Soutar Lecture Theatre, with our workshop evenings taking place downstairs in the former cafe.

Our programme of events has something for everyone, including presentations by some of the UK’s leading photographers.  We also have presentations from our own members, plus a variety of photographic workshops, and internal and external competitions.

In addition, we occasionally organise exhibitions and it’s fun, and rewarding, showing our work to the public!

You are very welcome to come along for a couple of weeks, with no commitment, to meet us. That gives you the chance to decide if you like what you see! Please make sure that we know you are visiting and I will offer you my personal welcome. Or you can jump straight in with membership. Either way, go to the online form at How do I join? to register.

In addition to our weekly gatherings, we have a Facebook group – Perth Photo Forum – which provides an online place to learn from discussion of photography, by and for the people of Perth, Perthshire, Perth and Kinross, and surroundings, here in Scotland (Aussies, you’re too far away). Information about our informal photo outings will be posted to the Forum. These photo walks usually take place from April to September.

We look forward to meeting you!
